If you are going through a difficult season and are looking for strength and encouragement from God’s Word, this post on Bible verses about strength in hard times may be for you.

Going through hard times can be stressful and draining. Not something most of us would choose to do, but God often uses trials to draw us closer to Him and to strengthen our faith.

The Bible has a lot to say about finding strength in hard times. The common theme is that God is always with us, and when we turn to Him and seek His help, He will give us His peace and strength to endure no matter what our circumstances may be.

Following are some verses to encourage you and remind you of God’s power and ability to guide and protect you.

Bible verses about strength in hard times

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. – John 16:33, NIV

Hard times are inevitable. Often, they take us by surprise and we are quick to worry about them instead of putting our trust in God. In this Scripture, Jesus tells us that although trouble is guaranteed in this world, so is His help to deal with it when we put our trust in Him.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9a, NIV

God wants you to lean on Him when you feel weak and weary instead of trying to rely on your strength. Your trial may not be an easy one, but God’s strength is made perfect through your weakness, and His grace is enough to sustain you through any hardship.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. – Psalm 73:26, NIV

God is always with you even in the darkest of times. When you feel physically or emotionally drained, He promises to provide you with the strength you need to make it through whatever challenge you are facing.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1, ESV

When tough times come, you don’t have to go it alone. If you put your trust in the Lord, He will strengthen you and protect you, and help you get through it.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:31, NIV

Even in your weakest moments, you can find strength in the Lord. No matter how discouraged, exhausted, or unable to take another step you may feel, when you turn to Him and put your hope in Him, He will energize you and enable you to keep on keeping on.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9, NIV

God commands you to be strong and courageous, and not be afraid. He promises to always be with you wherever you go. He wants you to trust Him to watch over you and protect you.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10, NIV

When fear threatens to overtake you, trust in God. He is always with you during your struggles and He promises to help you and strengthen you.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV

Even in the darkest of times, you can be confident that God will meet you where you are and lead you in the way you should go when you put your trust in Him. No matter how rough the road you are on, He will help make it straight when you rely on Him to guide you.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:4, NIV

The Lord does not promise to take you out of the hard times you face, but He does promise to be with you every step of the way and to walk with you through the dark valley.
